Water impurities:

As recommended by the EPA and other sources (You may also contact your local health department to find out any known impurities in your area) AA Well water contamination: http://www.aahealth.org/a2z.asp?ID=227

Bacteria- once per year

Nitrates- once per year

Iron- recommended in most of Maryland

Radium- Northern Anne Arundel County;

Salt Water Intrusion- aka Total Chlorides- recommend if you live within 1 block from a body of water or if you have a well located within 50 feet of a major roadway (a result of road salt from the winter months)

Arsenic- for wells located in Calvert St Marys Counties, the Eastern Shore or in Anne Arundel County towns of Mayo, Edgewater, Arnold or Annapolis

MTBEs or VOCs- testing for petroleum products in areas of known leaks and underground residential oil tanks

Lead- Found most in homes with copper plumbing. In some cases the copper pipes were connected using a lead solder.

Other random impurities include, but not limited to, "Radon in the Water" (not to be confused with Radium) and Mercury
